A new build housing development
Client: Red Bay TQ
Project: Development of five townhouses
This project was a new build of five townhouses on a hillside plot in Torquay by a local property developer.
With limited access to the site and space at a premium, the developer needed a quick and easy solution to the blockwork element of the build. This also needed to incorporate a specific and detailed retaining wall system.
Following an information gathering exercise and a site visit from a Durisol representative, Durisol was chosen by the developer as “the obvious choice for this build.”
As the builders were tight for space the developer chose the 300mm block for the external work. D250mm was used for the party-walls of the properties.
The main benefit of using Durisol was the speed and ease of construction. The entire project took just 18 months to complete enabling the developer to maximise the return on investment.
With the 120mm of PIR insulation (thicker than the standard requirements) in the 300mm block, the u-value of the completed properties is 0.22 W/m²K. This is considerably higher than that achievable with a standard masonry two-skin system and surpasses regulation standards.
“Having used Durisol once, I would be happy to stay with this system. The Durisol building block is everything you need and more.
If you are looking for a build that gives you so many plusses, then look no further than the Durisol block system.”
