Residential seafront development

A small scale residential housing development

Client: Elements Contracting

Location: Shoreham-by-Sea

Project: Small scale housing development

The Project

This was a cluster of four new build seafront homes, each individually designed yet sharing a similar modern style. The houses were constructed with Durisol block and finished with a timber cladding.

The Challenge

The homes were being built in a seaside town where heavy rain and strong winds are a regular occurrence during the winter months. This would delay a traditional build project but one of the principal benefits of Durisol is its ability to be constructed throughout all weather conditions.

The contractors also chose Durisol for this project as they value the ease and speed of using Durisol. They are a group of carpenters by trade so could complete the entire build without the assistance of brick layers or other specialists.

The Outcome

These residential homes achieved a wall U-value of 0.23w/m2K using a single skin of Durisol D300 units with PIR insulation, an external render, cladding finish and an internal wet plaster finish.

With excellent thermal and acoustic properties the homes can withstand the seafront weather conditions and provide comfy, cosy and energy efficient living throughout all the seasons.

Client Comment

We now request Durisol blocks on all of our builds because it means we can be fully in control which is very important to us being able to oversee the entire project. We have adapted our own method of using the blocks over time and find that our clients are always hugely pleased with the speed and finish they allow us to complete with.
